Order confirmed for first-round picks – Who will choose your favorite player?
The teams who will be making the top 30 picks of the 2021 NFL draft are now confirmed, with the first selection of the event being awarded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Right behind them with the second pick is the New York Jets, and rumor has it both these teams could be leaning towards choosing a new quarterback with their picks.
Well, respected NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr believes that Justin Fields (Ohio State) and Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) are likely choices, with Fields having a slight edge after his performance in the College Football Playoff Semi-finals last week.
The third pick was originally set to be awarded to the Houston Texans but now goes to the Miami Dolphins as a result of last year’s trade involving offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. This means that the Dolphins have two first-round picks this year, as do the Jaguars and the Jets. Filling out the top five picks are the Atlanta Falcons and the Cincinnati Bengals, both of whom had a disappointing season last year and will be hoping to score some additional firepower from the draft.
The event itself is scheduled to take place in Cleveland beginning on April 29th and will be broadcast on ESPN.
The order for the first 30 picks is listed below, along with our predictions for the first twelve picks. Do you think your favorite player will be picked this year? Unibet IN has already prepared the odds for each player on their website and if you take a look you will see that Trevor Lawrence is the main favorite with -5000, followed by Justin Fields and Penei Sewell with +1400 and +2000 respectively.
- Jacksonville Jaguars
The first time this team has had the No. 1 pick, analysts believe they are likely to use their pick to snag either Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence. - New York Jets
The Jets missed out on the No. 1 spot by a tiny margin this year. Rumour has it they could be looking at Oregon’s Penei Sewell as a new offensive tackle. - Miami Dolphins
The ‘Fins have two first-round picks this year and should be looking to use them to fix their terrible offensive line in our opinion. Northwestern’s Rashawn Slater would be an obvious choice. - Atlanta Falcons
New coach Arthur Smith is looking to bag a new QB to work alongside Matt Ryan, and will likely be hoping that Justin Fields is still available. - Cincinnati Bengals
This is the 17th time the Bengals have a top-five pick. They tend to use their first-round picks to choose new offensive players, but Athlon Sports believe Ja’Marr Chase of LSU to be a likely pick this time around. - Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles haven’t had a first-round top-10 pick since 2016 and already have a great new quarterback in the form of last year’s pick Jalen Hurts. Expect them to consider Florida’s Kyle Pitts for a new tight end in this year’s draft. - Detroit Lions
This will be the third consecutive year that the Lions will be making a top-10 pick and will likely be hoping to score a new quarterback. Brigham’s Zach Wilson is a potential pick. - Carolina Panthers
The Panthers hit the jackpot with their last top-10 pick, Christian McCaffrey in 2017. This year they could be looking for a new cornerback, and Caleb Farley from Virginia would be an excellent choice. - Denver Broncos
This year is only the second time during the past decade that the Broncos will be making a top-10 pick. Analysts believe that Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain would be their perfect pick. - Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys’ haven’t featured this highly in the draft for five years, ever since they chose Elliot way back in 2016. They may well be hoping to score Christian Darrisaw from Virginia Tech, but only time will tell! - New York Giants
New York has been struggling to live up to their prior performances over the last year or two and picking DeVonta Smith as their new wide receiver could be the first step in returning the Giants to their former glory. - San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have made many defensive first-round picks in the past, but they currently have an urgent need for an improvement in the corner. We’d wager they are considering Jaycee Horn from South Carolina to fill this position.
The order for the remainder of the 2021 draft is as follows:
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Minnesota Vikings
- New England Patriots
- Arizona Cardinals
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Miami Dolphins
- Washington Football Team
- Chicago Bears
- Indianapolis Colts
- Tennessee Titans
- New York Jets
- Pittsburgh Steelers
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Cleveland Browns
- Baltimore Ravens
- New Orleans Saints
- Green Bay Packers
- Buffalo Bills
